One of the benefits of coloring pages teaching children to identify different colors. While every child should know the basic red, green, blue, pink, yellow, the common colors, there is good reason to teach them the names of more obscure hues. Recent research shows that vocabulary helps people tell colors apart. Comparing different linguistic groups scientists have shown that if a language does not have a name for a color then the speaker has a more difficult time differentiating similar shades of color. If a child is never taught to be able to recognize the difference between brilliant white and eggshell (or rose and pink, fuchsia and red, etc.) then as adult they may never be able to tell the two apart. So discussing and pointing out the subtle differences among the big box of crayons is really an important cognitive opportunity.

Have you ever sat back and really thought about how much fun you really do have when you are sitting down coloring with your kids? If you are like most adults you might simply shrug it off and not really pay that much attention to this; yet there quite a few adults that really embrace that creative side and decide to express it by drawing or painting as either a hobby or a profession. If you are one of the really creative people you are likely to take that next step and simply make your creative passions work for you. This is something that many people really never give that much thought to as kids; or maybe those kids that became well known artists always knew that they wanted to share their creativity with the world. It is kind of amazing when you really think about the fact that just sitting there coloring either by yourself or with your kids really can make a big difference in your life.

Most boys like the creepy crawling things they see around them much to their mother’s chagrin. Thus snake coloring sheets may be one of their favorite choices when it comes to finding something to color. Snakes bugs and the sort are what we boys enjoy watching. It might be the fascination with all things created that drives us to seek out such things or it may be the reaction we see from the girls that drives us closer to the creepy crawly and slithering things of this world.
